HOSE MASTER: THANKFUL AND THRIVING
November 2025
HOW TO WRITE A GRATITUDE LETTER
How to Write Your Own Gratitude Letter (based on the Seligman 2005 study protocol):
Take a moment to reflect on the people in your life.
Think of someone who has done something for you that made you grateful, but perhaps you have not yet had the chance to really share that gratitude with them. It doesn’t have to be something big; sometimes the smallest events are the most meaningful. Maybe someone gave you words of encouragement before a big presentation or gave you a hug when you were having a bad day. It can be anything and anyone, but it does have to be someone alive and available to receive your letter.
Now, write a letter to one of these people, guided by the following steps.
- Write as though you are addressing this person directly (“Dear ______”).
- Don’t worry about perfect grammar or spelling.
- Describe in specific terms what this person did, why you are grateful to this person, and how this person’s behavior affected your life. Try to be as concrete as possible.
- Describe what you are doing in your life now and how you often remember his or her efforts.
- Try to keep your letter to roughly one page (~300 words).
Next, you should try to deliver your letter in person, following these steps:
- Plan a visit with the recipient. Let that person know you’d like to see him or her and have something special to share, but don’t reveal the exact purpose of the meeting.
- When you meet, let the person know that you are grateful to them and would like to read a letter expressing your gratitude; ask that he or she refrain from interrupting until you’re done.
- Take your time reading the letter. While you read, pay attention to his or her reaction as well as your own.
- After you have read the letter, be receptive to his or her reaction and discuss your feelings together.
- Remember to give the letter to the person when you leave.
If physical distance keeps you from making a visit, you may choose to arrange a phone or video chat. Email is less powerful, but it can work as well, because it still lets the recipient respond to what you have shared.
Gratitude Letter (English)
Dear Hose Master employees:
I want to take this moment to say a heart-felt thank you to all of you for allowing me to become a part of your amazing community here at Hose Master over these past few months. I have felt inspired and energized talking with you and reading your survey responses. I have been blessed to meet some of you in person already, and I deeply appreciate the insights and interests you shared with me over mocktails in the cafeteria. I didn’t know what to expect, coming in as a complete stranger to your workspace, but you made me feel welcome. Talking about health can be a sensitive topic, but you opened up and shared your ideas and concerns with me, which was a gift, so thank you.
As you probably already know, I feel very passionate about wellness, and it means a lot that you have also jumped in and tried the Brain BINGO and Trek around Hose Master. I know that you are busy with work and family responsibilities, and it can be difficult to add new things to your to-do list. I see your hard work, and your participation means a lot to me.
Although we are only one week into our new Gratitude mission, I am already inspired by the kindness and respect for each other that I see in the gratitude surveys that have already come in. Each person is clearly valued for the strengths they bring to the team, which is beautiful to see. I feel like we are constantly hearing about what is wrong in the world, but reading your comments reminds me that there is far more good in the world than bad.
Thank you to all of you for welcoming me to the team, and thank you to the owners and HR department for enabling this partnership. I can’t wait to get to know you all better over the upcoming year 😊
With deepest gratitude,
Dr.G
Con profunda gratitud,
Dra.G

Why gratitude is so important to your health
Gratitude is one of the fastest ways to boost your mood, well-being, and health, and it costs you nothing but a few minutes of time.
We have set up several different gratitude practice options for you to try this month, links listed below
1) Main Mission = APPRECIATE YOUR TEAM (click here to get started)
- We are asking EVERYONE at Hose Master to take a few minutes to write a comment or two about the people on your team.
- What do you appreciate or admire about them?
Your comments will be put together in an appreciation letter to each employee at the end of the month (and you will receive one as well). ***Your name will not be on the letter, just your comments
- Our goal is 100% participation, so we are giving 20 bonus points to any team with 100% participation.
2) BONUS ACTIVITIES: (see below)
(A) Appreciation comments for Hose Master employees who are not on your team - see below for the link to submit
(B) Gratitude Journaling - Studies show that taking a few minutes each day to write down what we are grateful for has powerful effects on our health, both mentally (lower stress levels, less anxiety and depression, higher happiness scores) and physically (better sleep, lower blood pressure, fewer illnesses).
(C) Gratitude letters - Powerful tool to boost your health. We have compiled some helpful videos and guides below to help you.
*** You do NOT have to share your letter with us, just tell us how it went after you wrote the letter.
